EPI 83 - How to Trust the Highs and the Lows of Life
Hi friend — welcome back to The Habit Within! I’m Camille Kinzler, and today we’re talking about something we all experience but often resist: the natural highs and lows of life.
If you’re like me, the high points feel amazing — productivity flows, creativity sparks, and you feel unstoppable. But when the ebb comes (and it always does), the temptation is to fight it, to make it mean something’s wrong, or to push harder to stay “up.” That resistance is often where the suffering starts.
What if instead, we trusted both the highs and the lows as essential rhythms — not problems to fix?
In this episode, I share:
- Why the ebb and flow is universal — from the tides to our breath to our menstrual cycles
- The stories we attach to the low points and how they amplify suffering
- My personal experience of noticing an ebb after a long “high” — and how preparing for it softened the landing
- How perimenopause adds unpredictability to these cycles, and what I’ve learned about compassion in that season
- Practical ways to support yourself differently depending on whether you’re in flow or in ebb
This isn’t about avoiding the lows. It’s about leaning into them, trusting they’ll pass, and using them as opportunities to rest, reflect, and reset.
Big Takeaways:
- Highs and lows are part of every cycle — they’re not evidence that you’re failing.
- The suffering comes not from the ebb itself, but from the story we attach to it.
- Both expansion and contraction are sacred — they keep us human, whole, and in rhythm with life.
I’d love to hear from you:
